2026 race and registration
When is the 2026 race?
Race day is Saturday, September 19th, 2026. The start time is 8:30 a.m. The race begins at the William J Brosnan School on Laurel Avenue in the Village of Northport, NY.
When does registration open?
As of March 24th 2026 our 10K race is SOLD OUT. You can sign up for the wait list or still register for our 2K fun run/walk here.
Is there a cap on registrations?
The 10K race has a max capacity 5,000 entries. Our 2K fun run has a max capacity of 750 entries.
How much is the race?
10k race

When do I need to register by? When does registration close?
The 10K race is now sold out for 2026. You may still join the waitlist at this time via the registration link.
The 2K fun run/walk will close at 750 entries.
How can I ensure I run in the same wave as my friends?
When you complete your applications, you should all enter the same unique predicted finish time, such as 45 minutes and 27 seconds. Entering just 45 minutes could split up your group into different waves. You must use the time of the "slowest" runner.
How can I update my predicted finish time?

Number pickup
Where do I pick up my number?
Number pickup will be Friday evening, September 18th, between 5:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. or race day, 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. at the William J Brosnan School.
Due to the staggered start, the numbers are not assigned until three days before the race. We, therefore, cannot mail the bibs.
Can I pick up my friends number?
Yes - Have the bib number ready for each runner.
Race day procedures
Where do I park?
There will be no parking at the William J. Brosnan School. Eighteen school buses will shuttle runners from the parking lots at the Northport High School (located at Laurel Hill Road) to Scudder and Laurel Avenues from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. The last bus will leave promptly at 7:45 a.m. Please plan your time accordingly. These buses will shuttle runners back to the high school parking lots from the finish area (Woodbine and Scudder Avenues) after the race until the award ceremony is over. (No later than 12 p.m.)
Is there transportation back to the Northport High School parking lot?
There will be buses at the finish line area that will bring you back to the parking lot at Northport High School. These buses will keep running until the awards ceremony has been completed. Buses will run no later than 12 p.m.
Is there a baggage drop?
There will be baggage drop at the UPS trucks parked near the starting line before the race. The UPS trucks will be waiting near the finish line after the race. We will only accept belongings placed in clear plastic bags.
The Great Cow Harbor 10K Run is not responsible for the loss or theft of personal belongings.

We have a variety of positions from bib pickup to race day and the post race festival.
How can I volunteer?

Can I volunteer and run?
Yes! There are many opportunities where you will be able to both volunteer and run the race.
Safety
Are strollers allowed on the course?
Baby strollers and joggers are prohibited from being on course.
